Halle Berry Jelaskan Kenapa Dia Terima Watak Gadis Bond Dalam 'Die Another Day'

Filem ke 25 James Bond, Die Another Day menampilkan pelakon Halle Berry sebagai gadis Bond. Gadis Bond ialah sebuah trademark biasa untuk filem-filem James Bond semenjak daripada filem pertamanya, Dr. No yang diterbitkan pada tahun 1962.

Dalam filem Die Another Day, Halle Berry melakonkan watak Jinx Johnson yang mana menjadi ikonik disebabkan bikini orennya. Ianya sebenarnya adalah homaj kepada pengenalan watak Honey Ryders dari filem Dr. No. 

Bercakap kepada Vanity Fair dalam mempromosikan filem terbarunya, Bruised, dia meneritakan kenapa dia memilih untuk mengambil watak tersebut.

I was really excited about Bond because that’s a franchise that’s iconic. It’s a part of film history, really, so to be a part of that franchise was very meaningful to me. And this version of a Bond woman was very different than any Bond woman I had seen before. When Barbara Broccoli came to me with the role, she explained that I would get to be a different kind - a new kind - of Bond girl. Which would allow me to be more active and sort of be… working alongside Bond in a new way, and that really excited me. But also, it excited me too to reimagine that great Ursula Anders scene that was so iconic… in a new way and pay homage to who she was and what this series was really all about.

Untuk watak Jinx Johnson, pelakon Salma Hayek, Saffron Burrows dan Sophie Ellis-Bextor antara pelakon yang dipertimbangkan untuk watak tersebut. Namun, watak itu akhirnya jatuh ke tangan Halle Berry. 

Filem Die Another Day merupakan filem terakhir dalam francais filem James Bond lakonan Pierce Brosnan sebelum watak ikonik itu diambil oleh Daniel Craig selepas itu melalui filem Casino Royale.
